What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are individual synthetic material that are are attached to your natural eyelashes, not to the skin. Each individual synthetic lash is attached to one of your eyelashes.
It is a beauty enhancing service and you DO NOT need to use any mascara while wearing these eyelash extensions. Certified last technicians provide this intensive service which requires skill and precision. Once applied these lashes are so natural looking it is difficult to tell even up close that you have extensions on. We carry the largest amount of styles in Edmonton (70+). You can customize your lashes to your unique style by choosing the length, color, thickness, curl and style.
How long do Eyelash Extensions last?
It is different for everyone. We lose up to five eyelashes almost everyday. You will lose an extension when you shed a natural lash. So over time, the extensions will start to become sparser than when you first left our studio. On average our clients are coming in every three weeks for their fills. First timers may be in earlier due to adaptation to the lashes. The longer you wear the lash extensions, the more accustomed you are to maintaining them. There are many factors that will affect how long the lashes will last, such as eyelash growth, lifestyle and general after care. If you choose not to maintain the extensions with a fill please do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own, seek professional help from your lash technician.
Why do Bizou fills cost "more" than other salons?
We feel that every time you leave us your lashes should look and feel like a brand new set. Bizou has committed to that standard. When you come into Bizou for a fill you can continue to pay fill prices each time as long as you come in with 1/4 of the extensions from your previous appointment. Every time you come in for a fill we will go through all the existing lashes and remove any crooked extensions, grown out extensions and any of the extensions that have a broken glue bond. If you calculate over a six month period, you are actually saving money with us and getting a fresh new look each and every time.
Do the false Eyelashes damage my natural eyelashes?
Not at all! Here at Bizou Lash Studio we use a medical grade lash adhesive approved by Health Canada. The lash adhesive is formulated to create a solid bond, specifically for human lashes. The adhesive dries very soft on lashes, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and bouncy just like your own lashes. You shed out your lashes just like you shed out hair on your head and the rest of your body. This is a natural process. A hair growth cycle is between 60-90 days and every follicle is on a separate cycle. So when one hair sheds, another is growing out of another follicle. People who remove their eyelash extensions feel that their natural lashes look shorter and thinner. This is an optical illusion. They have become accustomed to the look of the extensions that made their eyelashes appear fuller, thicker and longer and therefore causing their natural lashes to look short and thin.
Who should not consider getting eyelash extensions?
If you are an eye rubber due to allergies or habit you should not get extensions. You will break the bond between the extension and the natural eyelash and the extension will fall off.
If you have sensitive eyes, extensions may irritate you.
If you have a latex allergy, you should definitely stay away from eyelash extensions. The glue contains latex.
What you should do before your eyelash extension appointment?
Remove all eye makeup and clean your lashes with mild, oil-free cleaner.
If you are a contact lenses wearer, please remove contact lenses and wear glasses to your appointment, or bring a lens case and remove them when you arrive at your appointment. Plan to set aside 1 to 2.5 hours for your appointment.
Please arrive 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment.
What happens if the lash should loosen or become dislodged?
Do not pull the lash. Please contact Bizou Lash Studio to make an appointment to remove or replace the lash to avoid damaging your natural lash. As your natural lashes fall out due to the growth cycle, you will need refills when your new lashes grow. At first you may find you need to refill every two weeks. As you become accustomed to the extensions and with a little practice maintaining the lashes, the time between refills can be extended to three weeks or more.
